Intercultural assistance in Kadaň

Project name: Multicultural Kadaň 2024

Sub-project n.2 – Intercultural assistance in Kadaň

Duration of the sub-project: 1. 4. 2024 – 31. 12. 2024

Place of realization: Kadaň

Implementer: The city of Kadaň

Implementer of the sub-project: The Counselling Centre for Integration

Financing:The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic, UNHCR

The target group of the project are holders of temporary protection and other legally residing foreigners from third countries.

The aim of the sub-project is to provide comprehensive services to foreigners from third countries and their integration into Czech society. The aim is not only to provide basic information about the system of the Czech Republic to persons with temporary protection, but also to help with the language barrier. Overcoming the language barrier between the target group and the employees of authorities and institutions prevents any misunderstandings and difficulties.

Intercultural assistants provide basic counselling, contacts to follow-up services (humanitarian aid, integration activities, Czech language courses, counselling centres and other social services), they also assist with accompaniments and meetings at authorities (City Hall, Labour Office, OSPOD, pedagogical-psychological counselling centre and others), schools, doctors, employers and other institutions. If necessary, they help with the translation of information materials into the mother tongue. Intercultural assistants also monitor the needs and problems of the target group by regularly visiting hostels and large-scale accommodation facilities in the relevant locality.

Thanks to the support of interpreters/intercultural assistants, the target group’s dependence on mediated or incomplete information is reduced, self-sufficiency and orientation in society is strengthened, and the target group’s competence for integration into society is increased.

The event is organized as a part of a project for the integration of temporary protection holders co-financed by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and UNHCR.
