Every year, the Centre for Support of Integration of Foreigners, a non-profit organization in Ústí nad Labem, organizes a festival that represents the culmination of the organization’s year-long cultural activities.
This year’s edition of the Barevna planeta festival will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Městké Sady (City Gardens) of Ústí nad Labem.
Barevná planeta is, above all, about bringing together people from different parts of the world and showcasing various cultures through music, dance, visual arts, and, of course, food and drink. In addition to concerts, the festival traditionally features art and photography exhibitions, workshops on traditional dances and drumming, and ethno stalls offering a wide range of items—from jewelry and clothing accessories to more unusual ingredients used in the preparation of traditional dishes from different national cuisines.
„The mission of the festival is to introduce the general public to the communities of foreigners living in the Czech Republic, offering a platform for unique encounters, mutual understanding, and cultural enrichment. The aim is to showcase the traditions, customs, and cultures from different corners of the world, fostering a friendly atmosphere that brings people together through music, dance, and culinary delights,” explains Jan Kubíček, director of the Ústí branch of the Centre for Support of Integration of Foreigners and the festival’s organizer.
